About World Liberty Financial

WLFI is the governance token of World Liberty Financial, a crypto company behind the USD1 stablecoin and a crypto lending platform.

World Liberty Financial (WLF) is a US crypto company founded in 2024 by Zachary Folkman and Chase Herro, with Zach Witkoff as CEO. An entity linked to Donald J. Trump and his family, DT Marks DEFI LLC, owns about 38% of its parent company and is entitled to 75% of WLFI token sale proceeds after agreed costs. WLF's main products are the USD1 stablecoin, issued by BitGo, and WLFI Markets, an interface for lending and borrowing crypto through the Dolomite protocol.

WLFI is the company's governance token. Its only function is voting on proposals about the WLF Protocol. WLF's own documents say it gives no right to dividends, rewards or a share of company revenue, and that buyers should not expect a profit from holding it. WLF can block any proposal it sees as a legal or contractual risk, and one holder can vote at most 5 billion tokens.

The token contract was created on Ethereum on 29 September 2024, and WLFI was sold from October 2024, raising about $550 million. Early buyers could not move their tokens until 1 September 2025, when 20% was unlocked and trading began on Binance and other exchanges. About 100 billion tokens were created; after burns, about 96.7 billion remained, and about 31.8 billion were in circulation on 27 September 2026. A May 2026 vote put most of the rest on a two-year lock followed by gradual release.

WLFI has been controversial. WLF can freeze tokens it links to illegal activity, and Tron founder Justin Sun sued it in April 2026 over his frozen tokens. In April 2026 WLF also borrowed about $75 million against its own tokens. On 27 September 2026 WLFI traded around $0.058, about 83% below its September 2025 peak.
