About USD1

USD1 is a US dollar stablecoin branded by World Liberty Financial and issued by BitGo.

USD1 (World Liberty Financial USD) is a digital token designed to keep a stable value of one US dollar. The brand belongs to World Liberty Financial, a crypto company linked to the family of US President Donald Trump, but the token itself is issued and redeemed by BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A., a US national trust bank supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. The Ethereum contract was deployed on 28 January 2025 and USD1 launched publicly in March 2025. It now circulates mainly on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Solana, with smaller amounts on Tron and other networks.

USD1 has no fixed supply. BitGo creates tokens when its verified clients deposit dollars and removes them when tokens are redeemed; people without a BitGo account can hold and send USD1 but must sell it on an exchange instead of redeeming it. At 31 July 2026 BitGo reported US$4.00B of reserves against 3.997B tokens: about US$1.10B in bank deposits and US$2.90B in a US government money market fund, held in segregated accounts for holders. The accounting firm KPMG examined these figures. On 27 September 2026 about 4.42B USD1 were in circulation, making it roughly the 31st-largest crypto asset by market value.

USD1 is used mostly as a trading and settlement dollar on exchanges, above all Binance, where it is quoted against bitcoin, ether and other coins. In 2025 it was used to settle a US$2B investment by Abu Dhabi's MGX in Binance, which made it one of the fastest-growing stablecoins. World Liberty Financial also promotes USD1 through its own lending interface, WLFI Markets, and a points programme whose rewards, paid in its WLFI token, have included airdrops based on users' USD1 balances.

The token itself pays holders no interest. BitGo and World Liberty Financial keep the net income from the interest on the reserves, and their disclosures say their interests may differ from holders'. An entity tied to Donald Trump and family members owns about 38% of World Liberty Financial's holding company, which has drawn scrutiny over conflicts of interest.
