About Bitget Token

BGB is the token of the Bitget crypto exchange and its Bitget Wallet.

Bitget Token (BGB) was launched on 26 July 2021 by Bitget, a crypto exchange that went live in 2018 and began as a futures platform. It served as the exchange's platform token and later also as the token of Bitget Wallet. BGB is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum; the current contract was deployed in June 2024, and BGB also exists on the Morph Layer 2 network.

BGB started with a fixed supply of 2 billion tokens. In January 2025 Bitget burned 800 million BGB held by its core team, 40% of the supply. In September 2025 Bitget announced the transfer of 440 million BGB to the Morph Foundation: it burned 220 million at once and locked the other 220 million, releasing 2% a month for ecosystem growth. By 27 September 2026 about 1.09 billion BGB sat in the burn address, leaving about 911 million, of which about 700 million circulate.

With that handover Bitget named BGB the gas, governance and payment token of Morph, but these roles were announced as plans. In November 2025 Morph said that after its Viridian upgrade users would soon be able to pay transaction fees directly in BGB, and that burn settings are to be set by community vote; we found no data showing either is live yet. Quarterly burns now follow a formula tied to Morph ecosystem fees and the BGB price, on a path toward a supply of 100 million BGB.

On the Bitget exchange BGB gives a 20% discount on spot fees, raises VIP level, and can be staked in Launchpool to receive new tokens. Most trading on Bitget is in futures and other derivatives, and Bitget's Terms of Use exclude users in several countries, including the United States, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, France and Germany.

What it is used for

  • Planned: paying transaction fees on the Morph Layer 2 network
  • Planned: community voting on BGB burn settings on Morph
  • Discounted spot trading fees and higher VIP level on Bitget
  • Staking in Bitget Launchpool to receive new tokens
  • Paying gas across chains in Bitget Wallet
  • Planned: payments through Morph, Bitget Pay and Bitget Card
