Liberandum halal verdict

Suitable with care

Not suitableSuitable

Crypto.com Exchange is a widely licensed platform (EU MiCA, Dubai VARA, ADGM, Singapore MAS, UK FCA, US state licences) with strong security certifications, and its spot market settles immediately. It has no Shariah-certified product or token screening, and its only independent proof of reserves dates to December 2022, so use it with care: spot only, halal coins only.

Use

  • Spot trading, coin by coin

Avoid

  • Margin, derivatives
  • Crypto Earn, lockup staking rewards
More details

Spot trading on Crypto.com Exchange settles immediately, which meets the AAOIFI requirement of immediate exchange (Shariah Standard No. 1 and No. 20). The platform also offers margin trading, perpetual futures and other derivatives, trading bots and, in the Crypto.com App, Crypto Earn and similar products that pay a fixed or variable yield on deposits. Margin, futures and options fail the Shariah standards, and fixed-yield lending is riba. Crypto.com has no Islamic account, no Shariah-certified earn product and does not screen its token catalogue for Shariah compliance. On reliability, Crypto.com holds one of the broadest licence sets in the industry: a MiCA CASP authorisation in Malta (January 2025), VARA and ADGM licences and a Central Bank of the UAE Stored Value Facilities licence (May 2026), a Payment Service Provider licence in Bahrain, a UK crypto-asset registration and EMI licence, a Major Payment Institution licence in Singapore, US money transmitter licences and CFTC-regulated DCM/DCO entities. It reports ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II and PCI DSS v4.0 Level 1 compliance, and in September 2021 announced an insurance programme of up to USD 750 million for cold-storage assets; no newer figure was found. The weak point is proof of reserves: the only independent attestation found is by Mazars as of 7 December 2022; no newer attestation could be confirmed as of September 2026. In January 2022 attackers withdrew about USD 34 million from 483 accounts; Crypto.com reimbursed all affected users. In September 2025 Bloomberg reported a previously undisclosed pre-2023 breach of personal data of a small number of users; no customer funds were accessed. The Exchange's spot market is not offered in Bangladesh, Iraq and Lebanon, and the Crypto.com App is also blocked in Indonesia and Algeria. In the US the Exchange is available except in New York. Reliability score 7.0 out of 10, but with no halal product and no token screening, the verdict is suitable with care.

No dedicated halal product

Crypto.com offers no Islamic account and no Shariah-certified earn or staking product as of September 2026. Crypto Earn and similar yield products pay a return on deposited assets and should be avoided.

No token screening

Crypto.com does not screen listed tokens for Shariah compliance; its listing review is a regulatory and risk review, not a Shariah screen. Check each coin on Liberandum before buying.

Step by step

How to trade halal on Crypto.com Exchange

  1. Open an account and complete KYC

Sign up for Crypto.com Exchange (the same login as the Crypto.com App), enable two-factor authentication or a passkey, and complete identity verification before trading.

  2. Deposit without interest products

Deposit fiat through a supported bank rail or transfer crypto from another wallet. Do not place funds in Crypto Earn, lockup staking rewards or any product that promises a fixed or variable yield on deposits.

  3. Trade only in the Spot market

Use the Spot trading view with full settlement. Keep margin switched off and do not use Derivatives (perpetuals, futures, options), leveraged trading bots or copy trading of derivatives.

  4. Be careful with CRO staking for fee discounts

Lower fees are linked to CRO staking. If a staking or lockup arrangement pays rewards on the staked tokens, treat it as a yield product and check it before joining; trading at the standard fee tier avoids the question.

  5. Check each coin on Liberandum

Crypto.com does not screen tokens for Shariah compliance. Before buying, check the coin's halal status on Liberandum.

  6. Withdraw to self-custody

After buying, withdraw coins to your own wallet (whitelisted address). Crypto.com's last independent proof of reserves dates to December 2022, so avoid keeping large balances on the exchange.
