About Render
RENDER pays for jobs on a decentralised GPU network for 3D rendering and AI compute.
Render Network is a marketplace for GPU computing power. People with spare graphics cards (node operators) render 3D scenes and run AI workloads for artists, studios and developers. The network was founded in 2017 by OTOY and its CEO Jules Urbach. Since 2023 a non-profit, the Render Network Foundation, has stewarded the network, while OTOY runs rendernetwork.com, the largest service on it.
RENDER is the network's token. It started as RNDR on Ethereum and moved to Solana on 2 November 2023; holders can still upgrade old RNDR through a bridge. Payments follow a 'burn-and-mint' model: jobs are priced in US dollars, the customer burns RENDER worth that amount, and the network separately mints new RENDER each week to reward node operators, grants and Foundation operations. The network charges a 5% fee on completed jobs.
The maximum supply is about 644.2 million RENDER. On 27 September 2026 about 518.8 million were in circulation. New issuance is set each year by community vote: about 5.9 million RENDER a year in 2025 and 2026, half of it for Foundation operations. There is no native staking, so simply holding RENDER earns nothing.
Changes are proposed as Render Network Proposals and decided by token-holder votes. In 2026 the community approved bringing Salad Technologies' distributed GPU network in as a new subnet paid in RENDER. Render also offers Dispersed, a platform that pools its GPUs for AI and general computing.
