About Quant

QNT is the token of Quant's Overledger, software that connects banks and blockchains, used to pay for access to the platform.

Quant builds Overledger, software that connects different blockchains with each other and with banks' existing payment systems. It is developed by Quant Network Ltd, a private company registered in London and led by its founder Gilbert Verdian. QNT is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum; its contract was deployed on 6 April 2018 and the tokens were sold in a 2018 token sale that raised about $11 million.

QNT is the platform's access token rather than a share in the company. Secondary sources describe Overledger licence fees as paid in QNT, which Quant's treasury holds for the licence term, and Quant's earlier treasury design routed QNT payments from users to the gateways that relay transactions. Holding QNT gives no claim on Quant's profits. Staking of QNT was announced but, on 27 September 2026, was not live on mainnet.

Data aggregators report a fixed supply of about 14.6 million QNT, of which about 14.5 million circulate; the Ethereum contract itself still reports 45,467,000, the figure before unsold sale tokens were reportedly burned in 2018. On 27 September 2026 QNT had a market value of about $2.5 billion.

Quant works mainly with banks. On 24 September 2026 The Clearing House, owned by major US banks, chose Quant to run the coordination layer of a network for tokenised bank deposits, expected in the first half of 2027. Overledger's core code is proprietary, so the network depends on one company rather than an open community.

What it is used for

  • Paying for access to Quant's Overledger platform and licences
  • Payments between platform users and gateway operators
  • Infrastructure linking bank payment systems with blockchains
  • Spot trading and self-custody as an ERC-20 token
