About Flare
FLR is the native coin of Flare, a blockchain with built-in price and cross-chain data.
Flare is a public blockchain that works like Ethereum for developers but has data services built into the network itself. The Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) publishes price and data feeds, and the Flare Data Connector brings in facts from other blockchains and the internet. The network was created on 14 July 2022, and FLR became transferable at the token distribution on 9 January 2023, when XRP holders received an airdrop.
FLR is used to pay transaction fees, which are burned, to stake with validators and to delegate to the data providers that run the oracle. Delegators keep their wrapped FLR in their own wallet and share in rewards that depend on how well their chosen provider performs. Rewards come mainly from new issuance. Until 30 January 2026, holders of wrapped FLR also received monthly FlareDrops from the original airdrop pool.
FLR has no fixed supply cap. Total supply was about 106.6 billion FLR on 27 September 2026. In April 2026 holders approved FIP.16, which cut annual inflation from 5% to 3%, raised gas fees twentyfold to burn more FLR, and created FIRE, a Foundation-run pool that collects protocol fees and captured MEV and is meant to buy back and burn FLR.
Flare's main growth area is FAssets, which bring XRP and other non-smart-contract coins onto Flare. FXRP, launched in September 2025, reached about 145 million tokens by September 2026, much of it used in lending markets and yield vaults. The Flare Foundation leads development and, for now, controls FIRE.
